This WSIB approved two day course delivers Standard First Aid, based on Canadian Red Cross program, and adult, child, infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, CPR level C. Training on the use of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) is included.
First aid topics covered include:
- Primary and secondary assessment
- Severe bleeding e.g. wounds, lacerations
- Serious injury recognition and Immobilization e.g. head, neck, back, chest, abdomen
- Medical conditions e.g. heart attack, stroke, diabetes, seizures, allergies
- Practice of relevant scenarios
- As time permits, any of the following:
- Heat/cold related health conditions
- Burns
- Puncture wounds
- Poisoning
Course includes:
Canadian Red Cross reference manual and Emergency First Aid certificate valid for 3 years

This course is offered free of charge to all full-time, permanent University of Guelph employees. If there is space, the cost for students and temporary staff is $100, payable to EHS one week in advance, to hold your spot. |
