The hazards associated with the inadvertent activation of machinery or equipment have the potential for causing severe injuries, including electrocution, burns, chemical exposures, cuts, bruises, crushing, amputation, or death. To protect workers from the unexpected start-up or release of stored energy during maintenance or repair activities, such machinery or equipment must be properly locked-out. This training outlines lockout procedures for the control of hazardous energy associated with machinery or equipment.
