This is a 2- hour basic training session on noise hazards in the workplace and the University's Hearing Loss Prevention Program. Participants will gain an understanding of the following topics:
- Definition of noise
- Health effects of exposures to hazardous noise levels
- Regulatory requirements under O. Reg. 381/15
- Noise hazard assessments
- Noise controls
- Use, care and fitting of hearing protection devices
- Audiometric testing; and
- Roles and responsibilities under the University's Hearing Loss Prevention Program
The course also includes hands-on training on proper fitting of foam ear plugs.
