This online module is an update to the Competent Supervisor and Due Diligence course.
It is designed to meet Regulation 297 Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training.
The materials provide managers and supervisors with an overview of the major provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario (including their legal duties and responsibilities), as well as a review of the U of G health and safety policies, programs, systems and resources available to assist them in fulfilling these responsibilities.
This mandatory training session will enable supervisors to:
-Gain a working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), or the Act
- Become familiar with the duties of employers, supervisors and workers
- Understand what constitutes Due Diligence in the workplace
be aware of hazards in the workplace, how to control hazards and organize safe work
- Understand the requirements for Joint Health & Safety Committees,
- Understand the role of the supervisor for reporting of injuries
- Review some U of G Health and Safety programs.
It will also provide insights into how the intent of the safety regulations apply to the academic setting.
|Eligibility:||This course is mandatory for all personnel who supervise staff or graduate students, and strongly recommended for those who direct activities of staff or undergraduate students. A University of Guelph central login account is required for access to the online modules. Access will be granted within 2 business days of receiving this notification. Once you have access, you are able to complete the module at any time following. PLEASE NOTE: This is an ongoing event and is available year round for all employees.|
